After a great start to this year’s La Route d’Occitanie yesterday the Riwal Readynez riders followed up with an even greater result today taking the lead in the team's classification as Emil Vinjebo directed today’s race by taking the initiative to attack from the early get-go.

With 12 kilometers remaining Vinjebo dropped his colleagues and went on solo for the final stretch but was caught with less than a kilometer from the line, where Arvid De Kleijn sprinted to 4th in the bunch sprint in front of world star sprinters like Elia Viviani.

“I’m so proud of the guys”, says sports director Michael Blaudzun. “What they’re doing down here is pure team spirit at its best. It doesn’t get any bigger and Vinjebo stole the show today. It was nerve-wrecking following the last kilometers to the line and very unfortunate, that he didn’t take the win - he truly deserved that.”

Emil Vinjebo’s effort in today’s breakaway gives Riwal Readynez Cycling Team two riders in the top 10 of the overall classification going into tomorrow’s queen stage with Vinjebo sitting 7th and Andreas Kron 9th keeping his mountains classification jersey as well.

“We talked before the stage about going for the break and to try and go for it on the last climb and he just tore it apart. It’s incredible to witness everyone sticking with the plan both yesterday with Kron and today with Vinjebo as well as Arvid in the sprint, who got great help from the other guys as well. Incredible day.”
