The two Swedes, who both have been Swedish Champion, will take part of this year’s World Championships road race on Sunday, when the two Riwal Readynez-riders Lucas Eriksson and Kim Magnusson pull on the blue and yellow colors on Sunday.

“I’m super proud to represent Sweden at the Worlds”, says Swedish Champion Lucas Eriksson. “It’s not something to experience every day, and this will be my first World Championships.”

At first Sweden had one spot at the road race on Sunday, which was given to Tobias Ludvigsson from the French WorldTour team Groupama - FDJ, but after Ludvigsson withdrew his participation, Lucas received the call on Tuesday. On Wednesday Sweden was given a second spot and thus Kim Magnusson will join his teammate on Sunday.

“I’m starting to feel the tiredness after a long season, and we’re looking towards a very hard race, but when you’re offered a spot for the Worlds, you can’t say no”, says Eriksson.

Going up against much larger nations with four times as many riders as the Swedish National team, the odds for making a big result are very slim.

“We don’t really have a goal of a specific result. We want to ride as good a race as possible, where we’ll both help each other, and hopefully we can hang on till the final”, ends Lucas Eriksson.
