After a strong time trial yesterday, Kristian Aasvold was the man to deliver another result for the Riwal Securitas riders today in the 133 kilometer road race, Lillehammer GP. With a finish up the 10 kilometer climb, Hafjelltoppen, the winner was sure to be the strongest of the bunch, where Kristian finished 6th over the line.
“The guys worked well today with Sondre in the early breakaway and the others working well together in the bunch”, says sports director Peter-Lee Jeffries. “The breakaway was caught just before the climb and August hit a pothole at the bottom of the climb and unfortunately had to change bikes.”
Sindre Lunke tried to go on the attack at the foot of the last climb but was quickly caught again by the Uno-X riders controlling the race in the front. Shortly after the two Uno-X riders attacked and sailed off with the win.
“We hoped for more, but now we look towards tomorrow. It suits us better and I think we have a good shot at victory, if we have the luck on our side”, ends Peter-Lee Jeffries.
Initially the race on Sunday wasn’t supposed to be raced, but the organizers made the decision yesterday to race the 1.2-race, Gylne Gutuer, after all, why the riders get one more shot at victory.
