Today’s first stage of Tour de Luxembourg ended up a tough 1,5-kilometer hill, where three Riwal Securitas riders finished in the first group, all in top 23, namely Andreas Kron, August Jensen, and James Shaw, keeping their chances in the overall classification.
“It was a good first day for us here in Luxembourg”, says sports director Michael Blaudzun. “Three guys in the first group while Lucas Eriksson lost 11 seconds but is still up there. Martijn and Nick lost a bit more, but it only gives us the opportunity to try and go on some adventures in the breakaways. Overall a good day.”
The race was relatively easy going until the final 20 km, where challenging roads and descents made for a hectic final. Gaps all the way down through the peloton had many riders lose seconds.
“The guys knew what was to come and had studied the final well, which is good to see. It was a very hectic finish, so we’re glad to finish today where we did”, ends Michael Blaudzun.
