This past weekend, Elmar Reinders crossed the line in a domestic time trial, setting the fastest time on the TT-bike. The powerful Dutchman has been preparing for the national time trial championships since the beginning of the year and saw the weekend’s win as a perfect final preparation before his big goal next Wednesday.

“It was almost a perfect test ahead of the upcoming nationals. I didn’t really think about the competition, I only focused on myself and riding the time trial as if it was the nationals, doing everything I’m going to do next Wednesday”, said Elmar Reinders after the race.

The 22 kilometer flat time trial with just a few corners was almost a perfect representation of the championships parcours, and with the opportunity to stand on the podium in his home town of Emmen, Holland, this final test was crucial to completing his goal.

“Everything went perfectly, and I don’t think I need to adjust anything. Just keep on pushing. The nationals will be 34 kilometers and almost exactly the same, just a bit longer. I’ve worked for this winter on the track, where me and the team adjusted my position and the last months ridden a lot on my TT-bike. The championship is in my hometown, so I really want to make a good result.”

Acknowledging the hard competition he’ll face at the championships with the participation of star riders like  Dylan van Baarle, Niki Terpstra and Sebastian Langeveld, Elmar hopes to mingle in the top and stand on the podium at the end of the day in Emmen.

“Hopefully I can do a podium”, finishes Elmar Reinders.
