It was mostly a calm day on the first stage of this year’s Tour Poitou-Charentes en Nouvelle Aquitaine in France until the last 50 km where the race started picking up speed. Unfortunately James Shaw crashed at the 5 km to go mark and lost 43 seconds to the peloton.
“We were unlucky to see James crash so close to the finish line, and he broadly speaking lost his chances in the overall classification, but we still have ambitions with Emil Vinjebo and Elmar Reinders”, says sports director Michael Skelde.
“The guys are top motivated which is good to see. Everyone wants to give their all and we’re looking forward to the next couple of days here in France.”
