First race of 2020 ended in a hectic final where Andreas Kron rode into the last kilometer in a four-man breakaway. With just 20 seconds to the peloton of fresh puncheurs behind them, the young Dane was brought back just before the finish line where former World Champion Rui Costa took the win.

“It was a really good entrance to the new season”, says directeur sportif Michael Skelde. “Andreas Kron rode a super good final after a hard day in the wind and the guys in general did a great job today even though we were up against some tough odds.”

Before the beginning of the stage the Dutch rider Piotr Havik was forced to withdraw due to catching the flu. He wasn’t the only unfortunate rider on the team today. August Jensen, who sat in the peloton behind Andreas Kron in the break, suffered a puncture just 4 kilometers from the finish, which suited him very well.

“We’ve had to deal with some bad luck today, but that’s how it is sometimes. August said he had good legs today, so it’s a shame he didn’t get to ride the final. But overall the team rode a great race and Andreas Kron did what he was supposed to in the final. In my opinion a very good start to our season”, finishes Michael Skelde.
