Team Victory at Tour of Denmark Stage 3
In a spectacular display of strength and tactical prowess, Marcus Sander Hansen secured an impressive victory in Stage 3 of the Tour of Denmark, marking a significant milestone for Riwal Cycling Team in the 2025 season.
The challenging mountain stage, which included the iconic climb of Vejle, proved to be the perfect battleground for Hansen to showcase his climbing abilities. Breaking away from the peloton with 5 kilometers to go, Hansen maintained a steady pace that none of his competitors could match.
Strategic Masterclass
"The team executed our strategy perfectly today," said Sports Director Michael Skelde. "We knew the final climb would be decisive, and Marcus showed exceptional form at exactly the right moment. This victory is a testament to the hard work put in by the entire team during our winter training camp."
Hansen's victory moves him up to second place in the general classification, just 12 seconds behind the current leader. With two stages remaining, Riwal Cycling Team is well-positioned to challenge for the overall victory.
Team Performance
The success wasn't limited to Hansen alone. Team captain Thomas Nielsen played a crucial role in controlling the peloton during the early parts of the stage, while Erik Bergström's pace-setting on the penultimate climb helped thin out the group of favorites.
"This win is special because it came on home soil," Hansen commented after the stage. "The support from Danish fans was incredible, and it gave me extra motivation in those final kilometers. We're not done yet - there's still the overall classification to fight for."
Looking Ahead
Tomorrow's stage features a challenging time trial through Copenhagen's city center, where the team's time trial specialist Erik Bergström will be aiming to further improve the team's standing in the general classification.
The victory marks Riwal Cycling Team's third UCI win of the 2025 season and strengthens the team's position in the UCI Europe Tour rankings.
