The training camp in Calpe, Spain, has successfully come to an end, and Michael Blaudzun, directeur sportif at Riwal Readynez Cycling Team is more than satisfied with the outcome of the week with the riders.
“It’s the best training camp we’ve ever had with the team. The level is very high, and I’ve been confirmed that we’ve assembled a great combination of riders for the coming season”, says Michael Blaudzun.
“It was a great effort from the guys who went through some tough days on the bike, and what I saw was that they are motivated, professional and ready for the season, which starts in a week and a half.”
The riders went through two blocks of three hard days of training with everything from climbing tests, lead-out training, race simulations and loads of intervals. But a training camp serves more than just training.
"We have ten new riders on the team, and everyone has to get to know each other better before we’re sitting in race situations. A training camp is an opportunity to increase team spirit and the social aspect, and in terms of that, our week in Calpe has also been highly successful. People seem to enjoy each other’s company, which is of vital importance for a team.”
The first race of the season for Riwal Readynez Cycling Team is the Italian 1.HC-race Trofeo Laigueglia in Northern Italy. The team is going up against WorldTour teams such as Groupama-FDJ and AG2R La Mondiale, as well as other pro-continental teams.
“I’m very satisfied and happy after this training camp, and I looking much forward to the start of the season and the year in general”, says Michael Blaudzun.
